so disgusting.

every time i drink a fountain soda - i get insanely sick. like vom-ing sick. (sorry tmi). i am pretty convinced they are poisoning me. i've been hearing a lot of banter recenty about bacteria that can be nestling in the plastic pipes that the soda or tap beer runs through - so then it it's your drink...gross.

and oh look...IT'S TRUE

(CBS)  Could you be guzzling down germs?

Research from Hollins University, in Roanoke, Va., finds you very well could be, if your drink came from a cafeteria or restaurant soda fountain.

Researchers tested 30 soda fountains and analyzed them for microbial contamination. They found many of the beverages from them were contaminated with bacteria. Coliform/fecal bacterium was detected in 48 percent of them. The potentially deadly bacteria E. coli was found in 11 percent of the tested drinks.

Dr. Alanna Levine, a primary care physician, said on "The Early Show," contaminated fountain drinks could be a potential health threat to people who are weakened by illness.

"We all have bacteria living in our bodies normally," she said. "It becomes more of a problem for people with compromised immune systems -- so people on chemotherapy, cancer, HIV, that sort of thing."

Levine said there is a range of symptoms from none at all to gastrointestinal distress and other infections in the body.

Symptoms to look for:
• Vomiting
• Severe diarrhea
• abdominal cramping.

Levine said if any of these symptoms are extreme, you should contact your doctor.

Contamination can occur from employees or customers failing to wash their hands properly and touch the machine, Levine said. Also, bacteria can enter your drink if the soda fountain machine and/or its water lines aren't cleaned properly.

Levine said, "You can get collections of bacteria in the water line, and that then runs through the whole machine and gets into the beverage."

However, she said she believes the main source of the contamination is likely the machine's water lines.

She said, "Any time any water or liquid sits somewhere, it's just a breeding ground for bacteria."

To help avoid potential contamination, Levine said, employers should begin enforcing stricter hand washing guidelines and tighter regulations on soda fountain cleaning. As for what you can do to avoid bacteria, Levine said it might be a good idea to only drink canned or bottled sodas.

I’m always looking to “Shape Magazine” for new fitness tips and trends – not that you should get trendy with your fitness routine, but it’s always good to mix it up and challenge your muscles. Then is saw this picture of Kelly Osbourne and forgot that I was looking for some tummy tighteners.
She looks amazing - and I'm selfishly really happy she decided to remove some of her tattoos. Good for her!!!
I prefer to sweat it out on the elliptical for 45 minutes and then do 15 minutes of abs or stretching. However, with the holiday season in tow – I feel like I’m floundering. Even though I haven’t put on the post binging pudge I’ve developed a complex about my weight - which is why I’ve taken to doing planks on the office floor. If I get the urge to call myself fat I drop for 60-seconds and look like a quivering lil biatch that I am.(LIGHTEN UP!!!! Working out does not make an eating disorder fatty!) My aunt (a spin instructor and hard body aficionado) said planks are the best TOTAL body work out. They strengthen your back, abs, arms, glutes and chest.

AND---according to Jackie Warner - the celeb trainer with the super abs - intervals are the best way to lose weight. She notes that 10-20 minutes of intense training are more effective than long (boring) workouts. I have the same fear that a lot of ladies do - bulking up from weights. But to clarify weight lifting burns fat and revs up your metabolism. You need muscle to become lean - I just always make sure to do a little yoga or stretching after to make sure I don't look like I'm roided out.

Cheers to a healthy and happy - almost carb free holiday season! If you need some pump up music try:

2. Katie Perry - Firework
3.Bruno Mars - Grenande

thanks to you.

Something has to be said for the 'wackness' that is living as a 20-something.

Like drinking a coors light, after an hour of cardio, while eating organic spinach ravioli that cost $9. I don't feel old enough to care. Should I start worrying about the serious stuff - like when my dad is going to make me pay for my own cell phone bill and car insurance?

Though things tend to get a bit silly - I have a beautiful life. Are they things I still crave - more freedom, more adventure - well absolutely - I didn't want to see more of this world I'd consider myself dead. I love my family, I love my friends, I love the boy that snuggles me into his warm chest every morning (even though he is making me watch "American Dad" right now).

I'm constantly surprised by the beautiful  people in my life - like last night Adam asked, "I was thinking how many groomsman can I have? Since we should have the same amount..." and then we both went through who we will have standing up at our wedding (yes Dave - you're one of them). We aren't engaged yet (and won't be for like two years - so don't start freaking out).

I guess what I'm trying to say is - I'm thankful I have so much to be thankful for.

cheers for the girls with raven hair.

A great article by on brunette makeup!

Eva Mendes Leighton Meester Megan Fox

If you're a brunette, you're in luck when it comes to choosing makeup.

Brunettes have the most flexible hair shade to work with because so many colors complement darker locks. The key is to balance that darkness with light-reflecting, warm makeup. Otherwise, your face can look pale and washed out.

Brunettes can also get away with very little makeup during the day. At night, a smoky eye with black or gray eyeliner can be especially striking.

"A brunette gal has the option to amp up the exotic feel of her dark hair with strong eyes or lips, or soften with neutrals and pale shades," says celebrity stylist Brett Freedman. Plums, navy blues, and pewters work well for these dark-haired mavens. Blush is also a must to reduce the contrast between light skin and dark hair.

When choosing makeup, the key is to match it to your specific shade of brown.

Deep, espresso brunettes: You can pull off this season's hot trend of vibrant red or wine lips. If you have fair skin, look for softer tones in your makeup like light browns, peaches, and neutrals. Darker skin tones should lean toward warmer shades like honey, caramel, or brown. When in doubt, lighter complexions should look for hints of pink and deeper complexions should look for touches of gold shimmer.

Chocolate browns: On medium to dark skin tones, opt for makeup with copper and honey shades for a soft look. Fair-skinned gals should avoid mauve or anything with silver because it looks too artificial -- especially for daytime. Brown eyeliner and eye shadow is especially flattering.

Caramel brunettes or "brondes": Lighter brunettes need to go bolder with makeup. You want to make sure your skin doesn't blend in too much with your hair. Since bronde is a more subtle hair color, your makeup should take center stage. A crisp lash line, smoky liner, or bold lip will create interest. Just choose one feature on your face to play up, though -- bold eyes, cheeks, and lips would be too overwhelming.

If you have fair flesh, try a sunless tanner or bronzer. Brunette locks look gorgeous with sun-kissed skin.

Another tip is to stay natural with your makeup -- especially during the day. "The biggest mistake brunettes make is going too cool-toned with lips and cheek colors," says Freedman. "Opt for colors that look like your natural blush or lip tone, just a bit more vivid."

Hollywood has some gorgeous brunettes who know how to choose the right makeup.Leighton Meester is a great example of a chocolate brunette, Megan Fox pulls off her dark espresso shade flawlessly, and Eva Mendes does a beautiful job with her bronde tone.

caroline sieber.

to me caroline siber isn't your normal cookie cutter looking fashoin girl - she is a london based stylist and brand ambassador for chanel. she's thin - leggy - and beatiful. but exudes a precise put togetherness that a lot of women lack. everything she wears mends itself together in a perfectly cultured way - each wrinkle looks in place. effortlessly perfect.

the one's for the boy that is my bff.

i saw this post on le love today about 'other gender best friends' and it made me instantly think of my william. i've picked him up at 4 in the morning from scottsdale when he was belig. i've cradled him as he cried about an ex girlfriend on my balcony, on a water mattress, eating a popsicle. he bought me a table my last night out at american junkie - and proceeded to barf under said the table. we have the same judgmental type of humor - and would rudely ask girls why they were at bars when they were (not really) pregnant. we sound (and slightly stalked) a super slutty girl with glasses would would go home with a different guy each night we drank 25 cent beers at barneys. we cheer each other on and i bitch him out when he needs it most. i asked him to be in my (future) wedding and he said "f that noise - i'm a dude - bro". i miss him and wish hermosa beach wasn't so far away from la crosse.

this one is for you willz:

This one also goes out to all the best other-gender best friends in the world. The ones that pick you up late at night for supper, just to take you out of your head. The ones that show you not all the men in the world are screw-ups and traitors, the ones that help you believe that good people still exist in the world. The ones you can laugh with without wanting to kiss, the ones who can give you that insight into that boy's soul you've been dying to know. The ones who swear they'll beat up / get the triads to beat up the poor sod who had the poor judgment to cheat on someone as wonderful and incredible as you even though it's the first night they've met you. This one goes out to all the incredible best other-gender best friends in the world who stuck around even when you abandoned them because your possessive ex-boyfriend went loco every time you even spoke to them. The ones that love you exactly the way you are, the ones that don't mind you snuggling against them just for a warm body without asking for anything more, the ones that come all the way down to the club from home just to drive you home, the ones that cry with you when you sit in your darkness wondering what you've done to deserve such betrayal from the one boy you'd give anything for. The ones that hurt with you when you're drowning in your darkness, the ones that hurt because they see your pain and can't do anything to touch you, to help you.

stepping with glitter.

I'm tall - 5'9" and sometimes heels just get in the way of my nights out. While suede over the knee boots and soft leather riding boots are wardrobe staples this holiday season I plan on jazzing up my skinny jeans with some sparkle in my step. I love the idea of wearing a masculine shoe, like brogues, with glitter. I'm all about a style oxymoron.
